April, 2007:
Dr. Phillip Leon is the director of ADAP at OU-Tulsa. As a physchiatrist
supervising medical students and residents in an inpatient setting, Dr. Leon immediately saw
the value in the ADAP curriculum and was excited to implement the program in Tulsa.
Dr. Laura Gilley is a resident at OU-Tulsa who volunteered her time to
help organize and schedule the students and residents who taught the ADAP
program in Tulsa schools this spring.
The pair were interviewed in April on KOTV Channel 6 as ADAP
was wrapping up for the spring semester.
February, 2007:
Dr. Karen Swartz and Sally Hess made their second visit to Tulsa to conduct
the ADAP training for the residents and medical students at OU-Tulsa. YPI
students participated in the two day training by acting as "practice students".
By splitting up into groups, they listened as each medical student went
through part of the curriculum and then gave them feedback from a high school
perspective. YPI is grateful to the medical students and residents who have volunteered
their time to teach the ADAP curriculum.
September 2006:
Dr. Karen Swartz and Cohort 1 chairperson Caroline Lindemuth were
interviewed by Rich Fisher on the KWGS radio show Studio Tulsa. The half hour
interview focused on teenage depression, the ADAP program, and YPI's decision
to bring ADAP to Tulsa.
